A Classical First Order Language
نویسنده
چکیده
The aim is to construct a language for the classical predicate calculus. The language is defined as a subset of the language constructed in [7]. Well-formed formulas of this language are defined and some usual connectives and quantifiers of [7], [1] are accordingly. We prove inductive and definitional schemes for formulas of our language. Substitution for individual variables in formulas of the introduced language is defined. This definition is borrowed from [6]. For such purpose some auxiliary notation and propositions are introduced.

متن کاملTHF0 – The Core TPTP Language for Classical Higher-Order Logic
There is a well established infrastructure that supports research, development, and deployment of first-order Automated Theorem Proving (ATP) systems, stemming from the Thousands of Problems for Theorem Provers (TPTP) problem library. One of the keys to the success of the TPTP and related infrastructure is the consistent use of the TPTP language. This paper introduces the core TPTP language for...
متن کاملFirst-Order Logic with Dependent Types
We present DFOL, an extension of classical first-order logic with dependent types, i.e., as in Martin-Löf type theory, signatures may contain type-valued function symbols. A model theory for the logic is given that stays close to the established first-order model theory. The logic is presented as an institution, and the logical framework LF is used to define signatures, terms and formulas. We s...
متن کاملOf Relating the Linguistic Description to an Interpretation of a Literary Work (Poetry)
This article attempts to see, through the structural significances of poetic language, the nature of the split between linguistic description and literary interpretation. Rhythm is the most prominent means of relating form to content in poetic language. The first account of this prominence is seen through identifying its position in the two prosodic forms of metrical and non-metrical poetry. Fo...
متن کاملA Resolution Calculus for Presuppositions
The semantics of everyday language and the semantics of its naive translation into classical first-order language considerably differ. An important discrepancy that is addressed in this paper is about the implicit assumption what exists. For instance, in the case of universal quantification natural language uses restrictions and presupposes that these restrictions are non-empty, while in classi...
